The Consortium performs the following main activities:

* It protects, promotes, optimizes and looks after the general interests of Protected Denomination of Origin Prosciutto di San Daniele, also providing information to consumers

* It protects, defends (also in legal contexts, in Italy and abroad) and undertakes a monitoring function to prevent wrongful, abusive or illegitimate usage of the words “Prosciutto di San Daniele”, the Mark of the Consortium or the distinctive symbols of Protected Denomination of Origin

* It preserves the Production Rules and Regulations

* It implements initiatives for improving product quality, with technical support and consultancy services for producers

* It safeguards the typicality and characteristics of the product

* It regulates subjects of common interest for all parts of the production chain: breeding, slaughter, ham-making

* It promotes and publicizes in both Italy and abroad the recognition and distribution of San Daniele, its quality and value-related characteristics, and information on the entire production chain

* It undertakes activities of technical production standardization in relation to all parts of the production chain: from breeding, to slaughter, to ham-making

* It provides service and support activities for the business requirements of common interest for producers, particularly for activities in foreign markets.
